#100SummerMiles + Sore Shins {My Training Diary: 7.31}

Today I’m linking up with Kendwy [MindofKiwi] and Veronica [VeroSays].  Our goal is to log 100 miles (walking, running, biking, etc) by the end of September.  I’m a little late to the party, but I’m hoping this link-up will motivate me to get my weekly miles!  Read more about #100SummerMiles.

Sadly my shins have been a little sore lately.  I think my Brooks are officially done.  The thought of getting new shoes makes me sadder than it probably should.  I love my Brooks.  They got me through my half marathon!  On the upside, I get to visit my fave Fleet Feet tomorrow 🙂

Lucky for me I won these awesome ProCompression Calf Sleeves from Lynda [Fitness Mom Wine Country].  I was looking at these babies online and entered her giveaway totally intending to buy them the following week– to my surprise, I won!

My ProCompression Socks got plenty of use this week.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE these.  C and I got some quality recovery time while watching the Bachelorette Finale.

Anyway, I got a total of 10 miles in this week!  Only about half were running because of my poor shins.  It was BEAUTIFUL one morning so I totally set out intending to get a semi-long run in.  About half a mile in my shins were on FIRE and not in a good way…. In a this-is-miserable-and-it’s-not-worth-killing-myself way.

Yesterday C and I walked with a friend and her two children.  We did one lap around a lake (2 miles) and the kids were doing great, so we went for another one.  As soon as we got to the furthest point from the parking lot, the kids were worn out. When you have three children all under the age of 5, they don’t really understand “it’s going to take us a mile to walk back.”  Thankfully we had plenty of snacks and technology so we all got a good workout in!  The pace for our walk makes me laugh because it’s all over the place… Oh well, any parent knows that sometimes the toddlers call the shots!  I’m not quite sure what happened there at the end… I don’t remember kicking it to high gear, but apparently I did for a second…

Here’s C enjoying some stroller-free time on the greenway.

I continued T25 this week.  Lots of people ask how I workout with a toddler.  Thankfully C is one of those kids who doesn’t mind playing independently.  I try to get T25 done during nap time, but if I can’t C is happy to play on his own or even join me.  Now when he hears the T25 music he says “fo-cue! jump!” (fo-cue =  focus).  He should be on a ShaunT commercial 🙂  This picture is from the ab workout.  It makes me laugh because I’m surrounded by random stuff, BUT this pic definitely shows the real deal!
